Prior to establishing Owens & Associates, Andrew has worked at leading criminal and general law firms in both Queensland and New South Wales. Andrew graduated with Honours in a Bachelor of Laws from University of Queensland and completed his Diploma of Practical Legal Training through the College of Law.

Andrew is admitted as a legal practitioner in Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

Andrew personally appears in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts and has a detailed understanding of the legal procedures of the criminal justice system. He has personally appeared without Counsel in sentences, breach of suspended sentences and bail application in the District and Supreme Court. 

Andrew attended Ipswich Grammar School where he graduated as a prefect and captain of the first XV rugby team. Andrew’s keen interest in rugby has seen him represent Queensland at the schoolboys level and travel to New Zealand to attend the International Rugby Academy. Andrew’s involvement in the rugby community has assisted him in broadening his cultural awareness.

Andrew has experience in a wide range of matters from serious, drug trafficking and murder to minor traffic offences. In addition, Andrew has represented his client’s in domestic violence applications (both acting for aggrieved and respondent) as well as appeals to the Court of Appeal of Queensland and applications for special leave to appeal to the High Court of Australia.

Andrew has appeared in numerous jurisdictions including New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia but practices predominately in Queensland. He is available to appear throughout Australia.
